Studio Coffee Roasters Ethiopia Kayon Mountain Ground Coffee 200g

€9,50

Taste Notes: Floral, jasmine hints of bergamot - a very fine example of coffee unique to the Ethiopian highlands.

Virtually unknown till last year, Kayon Mountain is a name that is growing in popularity among roasters all over Europe and its reputation is well-deserved.

The Kayon Mountain coffee farm is situated in the southern part of Ethiopia in the Oromia region, Guji Zone. The farm is privately owned by Ato Esmael and his family.

During processing only the cleanest, highest grade beans make it through the initial washing stage and then are placed onto raised beds where they dry over 12-20 days, being meticulously hand turned and picked over to remove defective beans.

Kayon is located 510 kilometres south of Addis Ababa, and the property crosses the border of two villages—Taro and Sewana—located in the Oromia region, in the Guji zone of the Shakiso district of Ethiopia. It was established in 2012 by farmer Esmail Hassen and is still managed by him and his family.

For best quality, he creates coffee sourced directly from the world's top 5% of coffee beans. All coffee roasted details the roast date, taste notes, coffee drying process, altitude, farm, and country of origin on its packaging. Husband and wife team Alan and Louise are delighted to develop long-lasting relationships with suppliers and “support their origin projects and partnerships which create access to credit, provide agronomy training, support gender initiatives and raise funds for education” in the countries they work with.
